Welcome to Third Grade!  I'm looking forward to
a fun filled year of learning  activities.  Since children learn in many different ways materials will be presented so that all children might understand.  Instruction will be presented through activities that incorporate the Multiple Intelligences format designed by Howard Gardner, so that your child's strengths and weakness can be nurtured to their fullest potential.

The "Great Eight" Multiple Intelligences that Gardner has identified are  explained below.

Verbal/Linguistic (Word Smart) people enjoy reading, speaking, and writing words.

Logical/Mathematical (Logic Smart) people are logical and higher level thinkers.  They enjoy math activities and games like Clue and Monopoly as well as brain teasers.

Musical (Music Smart) people enjoy composing, playing instruments, singing, rapping, and listening to many types of music.

Visual/Spatial (Picture Smart) people enjoy puzzles, mazes, maps, drawing, photography, arts and crafts projects, and building 3D projects.

Body-Kinesthetic (Body Smart) people enjoy acting, dancing, physical activities, hands on activities like carving, molding and model building, and sports.

Interpersonal (People Smart) people like to debate, work in partners or groups, prefer team sports, and like to go to social events.

Intrapersonal (Self Smart) people enjoy activities that give them insight into themselves.  They set goals, prioritize, have action plans, and enjoy working alone.

Naturalistic (Nature Smart) people are outdoors people.  They enjoy fishing, having rock collections, observing the stars, and other things to do with nature.
