q Offer 3 – 5 questions that will be answered in the article/text.

q Make sure that the questions are controversial or open to debate.

q Give the students a forced choice: they must either agree or disagree.

q Schools that are under a traditional schedule typically score higher than schools on a block schedule in reading.

q Olympia students score at about the same level in reading as do students in schools with similar demographics.

q Boys are better readers than girls.
