Story Impressions This strategy is designed to engage students in vocabulary terms they may have already become acquainted with, but will need to understand in order to read a passage. 1) Generate and display a list of vocabulary words that students will read in the intended reading passage. 2) Before reading the text, ask students to write a paragraph using each word in one sentence. The words must be written in the same order as they are displayed on the board. 3) Students may share their paragraphs with the class. 4) Students then read the passage and compare their understanding and use of the terms with that of the text. They are to make note of any misconceptions they may have had. |
